Honest comparison
Trustwise vs everyone else.
A side-by-side matrix that doesn't pretend Trustwise wins everything. Where competitors are stronger, we say so.
We're not the cheapest (LegalZoom and DIY paper-forms are), we're not the most thorough (a $5,000 estate-planning attorney for a complex case will out-detail us), and we don't replace an attorney for genuinely complex estates. We're the pragmatic middle: serious, attorney-reviewed templates, modern UX, fair pricing, no hidden subscription. This page exists so you can verify that.

When Trustwise isn't the answer
The lanes we don't run in.
Estates above $5M
Federal estate-tax planning, GST exemption strategy, GRATs, family-limited partnerships — these are attorney conversations. We'll happily do the will, but you also need a tax-planning specialist.
International elements
Non-citizen spouse, dual citizenship, foreign property, foreign trusts. The interaction with U.S. estate tax is complex and subject to treaties. Get a cross-border attorney.
Litigation in progress
Pending divorce, family dispute over a prior estate, anticipated will contest. These need a litigator-aware attorney drafting everything.
Special-needs trust funding
We have an SNT product on the roadmap, but if you're funding it from a personal-injury settlement (a first-party SNT), the timing and Medicaid payback rules are best handled by a specialist.
